Hebgen Lake Ice Fishing Activities

Hebgen Lake Ice Fishing

Hebgen Lake is a fantastic place to fish all year round, including on the ice! Ice fishing season is from the first of each year through the end of March. We plow the ramp from the Kirkwood Marina onto the ice, so there is easy access to some great fishing spots.

Take a look at the Hummingbird snapshot we took in August right off the marina jetty...catching one of those 3 pound Browns there is pretty exciting! Ice fishing tackle, bait, hot drinks, advice (and, probably some fish tales!) are available at Kirkwood Resort's North Shore Convenience Store.

Starting in 2012, on the first weekend of February Kirkwood Resort & Marina will be the headquarters for the annual West Yellowstone/Hebgen Lake NAIFC Ice Fishing Tournament. With a potential payout pool of $21,000, most winners of NAIFC tournaments are local or regional fishermen! The weekend includes impressive seminars for adults and kids, to help even the beginners enjoy a weekend of ice fishing. Click here for more details on the Tournament.

You can get out on the ice to fish anytime during the winter, though. Give us a call when you want to come. And, watch for the ice fishing festivals we host periodically throughout the winter to give people a chance to get together, practice...and have a good time together!?? Bring the kids...they love ice fishing too!
