Hebgen Lake Yacht Club
You are cordially invited to become a founding member of the newly formed Hebgen Lake Yacht Club (HLYC), Montana's newest sailing club.
The Yacht Club plans to establish a clubhouse at the Kirkwood Marina as a place for people who are interested in sailing to gather for both races and social events. The Club will conduct races throughout the summer, giving everyone a chance to learn and practice in various wind conditions. A raft-up is also planned for a couple of Saturday evenings in July and August, where sailors will meet in a designated cove on Hebgen Lake, tying their boats side by side for cocktails and dinner.
On August 20, 2011, the Club held its inaugural regatta, the Hebgen Cup (HC), the first sailboat race ever held on Hebgen Lake. By any yacht club's measure, the HC was a success. There were a total of seven boats and skippers, along with eighteen crew, for a grand total of twenty-five sailors. Cheers and hoots rose up from all, at the defining moment of the start. Leads were exchanged and there were many antics and great fun throughout the race...down to the finish.
